Qualified and participated in the 1968 Olympic trials and went on in 1969 to place eighth in the AAU Nationals. That eighth place finish had him listed as having the 9th fastest 200 meter backstroke in the world! Continued swimming on scholarship at the University of Texas in Austin. After a break he discovered Master's swimming and has participated in that since the mid-1980s. "Swimming has been a beautiful part of my entire life and I can now bring that love and enthusiasm to coaching the MAC Master's participants".

Emily Fleming. Emily has been swimming for over 25-years and has competed on club, high school, college and masters swim teams in Virginia and Texas, receiving All-State and All-Conference recognition in high school and All-Conference recognition in college. During this time, she also spent eight sum- mers lifeguarding at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach with the Virginia Beach Lifeguarding Association and competed on their Regional and National Competition Teams. This piqued an interest in open water swimming and, after taking a break from the sport following her college swimming career, she began competing again in open water races along the east coast (and the occasional masters swim meet) in 2018. Emily moved to Houston, TX from Virginia in the fall of2021 and joined the MAC Masters' Swim Team in the fall of 2022. She enjoys swimming with the MAC Masters' Swim Team when she isn't on the deck coaching!
